Bord Gáis Employees’ Credit Union is a financial co-operative which was established in 1984. It has over 700 members with assets exceeding eight million.
It is a registered company affiliated to the Irish League of Credit Unions and regulated by the Financial Services Regulator, the Companies Acts and other relevant legislation.
A Board of Directors consisting of a Chairperson and 10 directors manage the Credit Union. The operations of the Credit Union are monitored by three Supervisors. All positions are voluntary and volunteers are nominated and elected on a three-year cycle at the Annual General Meeting.
There is two part time staff, an Office Manager and Office Administrator.
The main function of this Credit Union is to utilise savings to provide loans at reasonable rates of interest.
A non profit making organisation, end of year surpluses (after paying all expenses and making transfers to reserves) are distributed among the members at a rate recommended by the Board to the Annual General Meeting.
